Radim Nencka
CO-INVENTOR

Radim Nencka, Ph.D., is a Senior Group Leader at IOCB Prague (Czech Republic). He also lectures on Chemical Biology and the Basic Principles of Drug Discovery at Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic). He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Charles University in Prague in 2008 and holds an M.Sc. in Pharmacy from Charles University in Hradec Králové.

His international research experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ghent (Belgium) and a diploma research stay at the University of Crete (Greece). His research focuses on medicinal chemistry, particularly antiviral treatments targeting viral polymerases and viral methyltransferases, as well as immunomodulatory agents such as STING agonists and inhibitors of viral host factors like PI4KB. He also actively explores drug design, particularly creating new agonists and antagonists for nuclear receptors. This effort of Radim’s group resulted in the discovery of new constitutive androstane receptor agonists that have great potential to become therapeutics for high cholesterol. His scientific work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Prize of the Minister of Health for Research Excellence and the Czech Head Award (Czech Republic: The Country for the Future).

Radim Nencka holds the position of Senior Group Leader at IOCB Prague. Beyond his leadership role, he serves as a lecturer in Chemical Biology and Basic Principles of Drug Discovery at Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic
